Sunflowers of CUBA

What is this strange thing that brings such a great smile to Petes face???..I believe it is a BEACH! In Varadero!

Most Bulidings structures and monuments are those made by the spaniards during their occupation
Pirates of the carribbean...is a theme that comes to mind as we spent the afternoon swimming in the carribbean sea in southern Cuba!

SO HAPPY TO BE ON A BEACH, ON THE WHITE SANDS OF PLAYA ANCON..

Hey its Cuba..and thats a Genuine Cuban!!

American Dreamcars in an unknown Village

Cuba is like a whisper of idealism in a whirlwind of poverty, a skeleton of perfection cloaked in degredation, pipe dreams and disapointment. Family is a person's most valuable asset. The country's beautiful vista perfect lanscapes are only now worth more than a poetic thought with a rigorously growing tourism industry approaching many districts. It's income is yet to visually seep into the greater populous. For a communist state, it apears to maintain a dense polyphonic culture, both religous and secular. That said, Edwina and I had a marvellously adventurous time there. In a similar way to visiting asia, the senses are assaulted in refreshing and memorable ways.
We hired a soft top jeep and with poor maps set off into the country side, roof down, sun shining. Using the sun as much as anything else to determine our direction in regard to destination, we often entered a city not via the main roads or autopista but rather by gravel tracks weaving through unmapped villiages. From Varadero to Santa Clara, Cientofugos, Trinidad to Habana, the 1200km rd trip met us constantly with both desirable and undesirable circumstances. A Spectatular place to visit!

Kicking Horse II

Seemingly on top of bowl after bowl, but for the slow lifts this place is a vertical bowl wonderland...

here is eddy up the top of a Feuz run, and seconds later...

camera zoomed and she's only half way down. flying.

Fresh Champagne powder still every where...

a little snow before lunch on the edge of the ephemeral.

Ed carving it up as usual.

We have now left the way of dredging the nights in hostels and b&b's! the cost of living has dropped ten fold. we live in a sweet little bunch of appartments lovingly known as the crack wood and the hood. shoes are draped over power lines and there are burns in the toilet seats, but its wonderful to have at last space and refuge! we live with an awesome couple who just got back from cooking in bermuda for two years.
